About the Company

Entasis Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery, development and commercialization of novel antibacterial products to treat serious infections caused by multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria. Entasis’ targeted-design platform has produced a pipeline of product candidates, including SUL-DUR (targeting A. baumannii infections) being evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials, zoliflodacin (targeting Neisseria gonorrhoeae) being evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials, and ETX0282CPDP (targeting Enterobacteriaceae infections). Entasis is also using its platform to develop a novel class of antibiotics, non-β-lactam inhibitors of the penicillin-binding proteins (NBPs) (targeting Gram-negative infections).


Key Responsibilities:

  • Synthesize, isolate and characterize novel bioactive molecules for Entasis discovery projects
  • Contribute to medicinal chemistry plans in a very impactful manner (including analog synthesis, compound design and synthetic route identification)
  • Strong presence in the lab with high level of productivity
  • Demonstrate teamwork and promote an open and innovative culture within a cross discipline environment
  • Work in accordance to local safety requirements and in compliance with all company policies


Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD in Organic Chemistry with 2+ years of research experience or MS in Organic Chemistry with 8+ years of research experience
  • In-depth knowledge of modern organic chemistry and synthesis techniques and tools with demonstrated impact on research projects
  • Proven track record of solving complex synthetic challenges and high level of productivity
  • Ability to successfully design and implement novel chemistry routes
  • Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals and/or evidence of sustained contributions to the field
  • Team player with a positive and proactive attitude with respect to out-of-box thinking, multitasking and willingness to learn and challenge status quo
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication; strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in medicinal chemistry, preferably in a biopharmaceutical setting
  • Experience working with external CROs, including project planning and prioritization of work, as well as academic/industrial collaborations
